Human resources executives are skeptical of reports that robots and artificial intelligence will decimate the labour market, predicting fewer than one in 10 jobs will be lost through technology.
The Australian Human Resources Institute released a report on the future of work that found a majority of 1,128 HR managers and executives were optimistic about emerging technologies and believed it would take years for them to have an effect.
However, the institute has warned if HR doesn’t get on the front foot on automation they risk ceding the workplace agenda to technologists, who stress adoption of technologies rather than business discretion over their use.
