Position Summary:

The Executive Director, HR Technology and Operations is focused on the optimization of HR programs, business processes and policies, and the use of systems and technology to support a global high-growth workforce. Provides leadership in design, configuration, implementation, communication, maintenance, and administration of HRIS strategy.


Responsible for the development and leadership of the global HR Operations and HRIS strategic vision to achieve best in class organizational performance.
Ensure HR systems and processes deliver on global consistency, scalability, and data accuracy.
Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Workday solutions to meet global HR requirements.
Support the efficient and effective implementation and use of the HRIS system(s) globally, including integration of systems where needed.
Utilize technology to increase efficiency, promote employee and manager self-service.
Drive necessary change management efforts for all areas of responsibility.
Ensure adherence to all SOX and security requirements for HRIS transactions.
Partner with other HR and cross-functional leaders to optimize processes and HRIS capabilities.
Oversees the effective transfer of information between Payroll, IT, Finance, Stock Administration, etc., supporting all HR operations.
Expect, develop and utilize data, metrics, and analytics to improve HR and business decision-making and provide needed tools and information to the business.
Lead HR change through needed process mapping, continuous improvement, and communication planning. Makes recommendations for enhancements.
Oversee internal and external audits; Responsible for the documentation and oversight of all internal controls governing HR systems.
Oversees HRIS ticket management and identifies themes and opportunities for improvement.
Leads HRIS team to deliver effectively upon HRIS strategic vision.
Education/Experience Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources or related area. An equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
15 years progressive HR Leadership experience in HR Systems, HR compliance, and in general HR operational efficiency with at least 8 years of supervisory/ management experience.

Experience with application configuration, software vendor selection, and vendor relationship management.
Dedicated Workday expertise; Subject matter expertise in Workday including HCM, Talent Management, Absence, Benefits, Advanced Compensation and Recruiting.
Expert understanding of Workday security.
Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Global experience necessary.
Exceptional analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated abilities to think creatively and strategically to solve and answer key business questions/problems.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with all levels of management, colleagues, and vendors.
Well organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, excellent verbal and written skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage complexity.
Ability to adapt to modification and changes to project plans, demonstrating flexibility to implement new strategies and tactics to accommodate these changes.
Ability to make both strategic and tactical decisions on sensitive, confidential issues.
Experience in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and/or biopharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred.
Previous line management experience with the ability to effectively manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, and respond to situations affecting staff.
Successful record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets, and critical paths.
Ability to travel 10% domestic and internationally
All positions have an essential job function to be able to perform face to face work with colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego. No role is expected to be 100% remote.
