The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible and accountable for implementing and maintaining HR policies and programs that ensure regulatory compliance.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS, TASKS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
o Update HR files and the ADP Workforce Now data base to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate, complete information.
o Update the Company’s employee handbook (working with senior managers and outside counsel).
o Implement and update Human Resource policies and programs as required by business and federal and state regulations.
§ Updates and advises management team on new HR related laws.
§ Update and maintain the Employee Policy Manual and its communication to employees.
o Oversees the investigation and resolution of personnel issues.
o Oversee the administration of cost-effective employee benefit programs and ensure plans are adequately communicated to employees and effectively administered through third party providers.
o Manage and facilitate onboarding for new recruits as well as conducts exit interviews of terminating employees.
o Responsible for maintenance, organization, and confidentiality of personnel files.
o Primary contact for workers compensation issues.
o Setup up and maintain employee payroll records using the company’s outside payroll service.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This is initially a part-time consulting role, requiring 20 hours per week, with ~10 hours on site.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field
Experience working in the life sciences, biotech or pharmaceutical industry in human resources.
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong problem-solving abilities
In-depth knowledge of California and Federal labor laws.
Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Demonstrated ability to learn, follow and help refine procedures with minimal oversight
Strong analytical / problem solving skills
Function as part of a multi-discipline project team
Works creatively and effectively and adopts hands-on focus – including managing subordinates interactively on a daily basis
Self-starter with willingness to expand expertise and skill base
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
